Crazy Drivin'

So here was the ridiculous schedule that I managed to actually keep up with after I quit my job and made my way to Tucson, Arizona.

December 12: Quit Work
December 13: Drive to Georgia to visit Anita and Patrick
December 15: Drive to Tennessee to visit the Hokansons, Cook twins, and Dawsons
December 18: Drive back to Ohio
December 21: Drive to Indiana for our annual Christmas
December 27: Drive to Houston, TX to leave my car
December 28: Fly to Maryland for Christmas and New Years with the immediate fam
January 2: Fly back to Houston
January 3: Attend Dan and Abby's Wedding
Night of January 3- Drive to Tucson
January 5: Start my new job!!

Goodness it was almost as tiring to write all that as it was to actually do.

So, lets talk about the drive for a minute. At a quick glance you would think, "Man driving by yourself all the way to Tucson would totally stink!" But I did have a pretty sweet set up. First of all I am driving a beautiful Ford Escape. Her name is Essie and she was very faithful to me. She had better be since she's only a year old (this all reminds me that she is long over due for a car wash). Anyway...I had satellite radio, an iPOD full of music, a fully charged phone, friends to call, a GPS navigation system, plenty of water, snacks, and lots of gum. Add it all up and the potentially worst 24 hours of my life weren't so bad.
Plus most of the way from Houston the speed limit was 80!! Loved that!

I've included some pics of my packed car (yikes!) and my lovely view while on the road.

Very Belated Halloween Fun.

I worked this past Halloween and ended up having so much fun. I took pics of co-workers and some cutie pies that dressed up. I also left a bucket of candy on my porch with a sign that said, "I have to work tonight but please enjoy some candy. Happy Halloween!" I didn't even attempt to ask them to take one because I figured whoever came by would take as much as they wanted. Of course it was all gone when I came home. I just hope it lasted long enough for all my immediate neighbors to get some.
PS: The guy to the left is an undercover secret service agent for John McCain. Awesome!

Get 'er done.

Hello all! Welcome to my blog. This is my first attempt at blogging so we'll have to see if I keep up.

Cassie and I actually got the job at the end of September. So now that the contract is signed there is so much to do. Here is a little list of things I have already done:

Copy of PALS card front and back with signature
Copy of Social Security Card
Copy of Nursing License
Copy of ppd within past yr, if you need to get one done, sometimes your employee health department will do it for you.
Copy of physical within past yr.
Copy of Titres for Varicella, Rubella, and Rubeola
Hepatitus B Consent/Declination Form
Background check form, we will not run until the offer is confirmed
Physical
Color blind online test
Tucson Medical Center modules and tests
Caregiver Safety Series
Cognitive Assessment Series Peds
Cognitive Assessment Series Medications
Cognitive Assessment Series Drug Calculation
Apply for Arizona Nursing License

Here is my list of things yet to do:
Drug Tests
CPR through AHA
AZ checklist
Motor vehicle registration
Tax Form

As you can see they don't make it very easy to start a new job. The nice thing is that if we finish everything 2 weeks before our start date we earn a $200 bonus. Sweet!
